Yobe State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Gujba is a specialised agriculture college that is located in Gujba, Yobe State. The college is under the supervision of the Yobe State Ministry of Agriculture.
Though a college, the institution operates based on a polytechnic structure, operating the same management and even awarding diploma certificates. The College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Gujba, was established in 1965 as a farm institute serving as an institute that is set up to train subsistence farmers on the proper use of machines and also on the best agricultural practices.
The institute, at its initial stage, was situated at Mumudo from 1970 until 1985, when operation in the institute was stopped. In 1993 a proposal to establish a college of agriculture in Yobe State was raised, and this was put into practice, leading to the promulgation of an edict that will lead to the establishment of the institution in 1996.
Academic activities commenced in the year 1996 following the edict promulgation in Mumubo for the following four (4) years due to the availability of structure until 2000, when the institution was moved to Gujba following the completion of the infrastructure and amenities that would be needed for academic activities.
The institution has enjoyed massive growth, transforming from a monotechnic to polytechnic following the amendment of the law that the institution was established on to a new law and edict that will allow the institution access to TETFUND. The institution was formerly named Yobe State College of Agriculture and is now Yobe State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology.
